About MidCoast Watersheds Council Our Mission The MidCoast Watersheds Council is a local non-profit organization dedicated to improving the health of streams and watersheds in the mid-coast area. Who We Are We are governed by a board of directors and officers.

monthly meeting. Committees, such as the admin committee and the technical
team provide oversight and guidance for decision making. Read about our progress on
providing a public forum for discussion and education of regional
watershed issues, assessing the conditions of MidCoast watersheds, and
promoting the protection and restoration of healthy fish and wildlife
resources, water quality, and overall watershed health. Our Projects The MidCoast Watersheds Council is involved in conducting rapid bio-assessments of coho distribution in mid-coast watersheds and estuarine assessments of Yaquina and Alsea Bay. MCWC maintains a Geographic Information Systems database and 6th field assessment for mid-coast watersheds. Our on-the-ground projects include riparian fencing and planting, culvert replacement, in-stream log structures, bank stabilization, and tidelands and estuarine restoration, as well as site specific monitoring and long-term basin scale monitoring. Our community education and outreach programs include a Stream Scene program for grades 6-12, monthly meetings and other activities, a MidCoast Watersheds newsletter, and press releases and other news. If you are interested in volunteering, each basin planning team has opportunities for volunteer monitoring, including water quality sampling, salmon spawning surveys, invasive weed removal, and other activities.
