In-Class
Studies with Field Trips
In grades
K-12, we offer in-class studies. Primary lesson areas include:
riparian assessment, what's a watershed, the salmon life cycle,
water quality indicators, the riparian scene, and macro
invertebrates. Other lessons are developed on a regular basis and
often classes can request lessons that fit into their classroom's
needs. Usually teachers have the in-class lessons prior to a
field trip. Often teachers take their classes out into the field
twice a year so that they can compare the data.

After
School Programs and Summer School
We have
programs at each of the Community Learning Centers. In these
programs, middle school students are mentored by high school
Natural Resource Crews. They complete watershed work in the
streams close to their school site. Each site has an unique approach. Some are working on the youth
native nursery project.

Natural
Resource Crews and Outdoor Camp
Natural
Resource Crew members are trained to serve as outdoor camp
counselors. They mentor the children and often serve as the
facilitator for learning.

Mentor Teachers
Mentor
Teachers work with new age groups this year as they got moved
from one school to another. If you are a teacher who is newly
interested in the watershed studies curriculum, we can connect
you with district teachers who have used it in their classrooms.

Business
Involvement
Presentations
of watershed education and the natural resource crews working are
available for local groups. There are many ways businesses can
get involved in being more environmentally friendly. There are
many ways you can get involved: your business can sponsor a crew
or change how you use water. We all live in a watershed.
Field trips are available to view local restoration projects.
